Did Anyone Say “Youifier”???
November 25th, 2007One of the great features of the new SCMM website is the ability to “Youify” it’s colors. You may have noticed a little set of graphical “flags” at the top of the screen just above the main menu bar. Now, if you were to assume that these are there just for a little visual stimulation you would be only “partly” correct! Aside from looking really nice and pretty-like, these provide you, the user, with the ability to customize (aka: “Youify”) the colors of the entire website to your liking!
So go ahead and click ‘em all you want! Try each one until you find a color scheme that works for you! Once you settle in on any particular scheme, it’ll stick around until you choose another, or until you clear the cookies on your browser, whichever comes first. Enjoy!

Whoa. Coolness with the youification! But, um, no love for the ‘Brown’ MINIs? A little VR action would be nice (#880000 is pretty close)

Ya know Don, somehow I just ‘knew’ you would mention that little oversight. No worries though - I plan on squeezing in a few new colors soon. I’ll come up with something to your liking. Promise.

Rich, I like a lot of what you have done. Not crazy about the logo placement but, I like eggs. The U-If-Acation is really kool! Leave off the VR though. DB, LOL man!

BTW, not sure if this is a Lands End thing but where are all the buttons on that page?

Rob - The Land’s End page is not ours, it is completely maintained by Land’s End on their servers, so we have no control over it. I guess we could frame it in using an IFrame, but I hate frames. So there ya go. Regarding the layout - sorry you don’t like it, you’ll just have to live with it. Can’t please everyone.

Rich, didn’t say I didn’t like it. I was just commenting on logo placement. You have done a fine job. And yes you will never please everyone but most, unlike me, will never say anything. I was trying to be constructive not abusive.

Rob - No Worries! The fact is that I tried about a dozen different treatments for the header. Many variations. I ended up coming back to this one, I think I liked it’s simplicity. I have another treatment I’m going to try in the future, but it is going to have to wait for some other things to happen first. Keep up the constructive criticism!

BTW… will this Blog ever allow us SCMM members a shot at posting a new topics? I prefer this blog style to the “bog” style of the old forums.

Rob - At this time the answer is “probably not”. Unlike the members-only forums, this blog is a publicly visible news and information dissemination service for the club. As far as I am aware, there are currently no plans to replace the forums with any other format either. I know you don’t like them, and I know they can be improved upon, but they aren’t going away any time soon.
